Administrative history

In October 2009, the Office of Strategic and Academic Planning was renamed the Strategic Planning Office (SPO) and became solely responsible for supporting the President and senior management in the strategic planning and development of HKIEd. From 2009, SPO published an internal issue of the Planning Brief twice a year. The aim was to inform and support the planning and decision-making processes of Senior Management and related academic and administrative offices.

SPO was closed in July 2012.

Administrative history

The Office of Academic Implementation renamed the Office of Planning and Academic Implementation (PAI) in early 1998 to support three central planning aspects of the Institute, namely, academic manpower planning, academic planning and strategic planning. The office collaborated with the Management Information Systems section of the Office of Information Technology and Services to develop a management information system that facilitates strategic and manpower planning within the institute.

Dr Lai Kwok-chan served as Head of the Office until his retirement in June 2012.

This subseries comprises correspondence, meeting notes, data sheets and research papers generated to support institutional planning during triennial funding reviews. The records document independently conducted research covering school population trends, student enrollment patterns and teacher supply and demand.
