Dr Li graduated from The Northcote College of Education in 1976, subsequently obtaining a diploma in physical education from The Grantham College of Education's three-year programme in 1977.

He held various positions at The Northcote College of Education and its successor institutions. The highest position was Acting Head of the Department of Health and Physical Education and Adjunct Professor.

During the interviews, Dr Li discussed the history and development of physical education.
