Biographical history

The Proposed Community Creative Arts Complex Project Planning Committee ("Planning Committee") was set up by the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Education ("HKIEd") in 2011 to plan and formulate the overall directions and strategies for the on-campus Community Creative Arts Complex Project. The Planning Committee was chaired by Mr. Chris Mong Chan, then Vice-President (Administration) of HKIEd. Professor Richard Tsang Yip-fat, then Dean of Students and Professor of Department of Cultural and Creative Arts of HKIEd, was the Deputy Chairman. It also comprised members of HKIEd and external expert advisors.

Archival history

The files in this series were initially held by the project coordinator of the Community Creative Arts Complex Project, who also served as secretary of the Proposed Community Creative Arts Complex Project Planning Committee. The project fell through and the records were passed on to Professor Richard Tsang Yip-fat. EdUHK Archives collected the records when Professor Tsang retired in 2017.

Content and structure area

Scope and content

This series consists of project proposals, design layout plans, meeting notes, correspondence, cost estimates, budget plans, questionnaires and application forms for a variety of matters, relating to the preliminary activities undertaken by the Proposed Community Creative Arts Complex Project Planning Committee in order to obtain funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for the proposed Community Creative Arts Complex Project ("CCA Complex Project").

The CCA Complex Project proposed to synergize the educational and artistic expertise of the Hong Kong Institute of Education ("HKIEd") with local arts organisations to enhance the cultural well-being of the north-east district of the New Territories. The ultimate goal of the CCA Complex Project, as the Project title suggests, was to lead to the construction of a Community Creative Arts Complex within HKIEd's Tai Po campus. However, the CCA Complex Project fell through and the construction was unable to come true.
