The First Assembly was held on 22 September 1994 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and was officiated by the then Secretary of Education and Manpower, Mr. Michael Leung.

The file consists of an admission ticket, information sheets about the Hong Kong Institute of Education, programme for the First Assembly, and three transcripts of speeches given by Mr Simon Ip, then Council Chairman; Mr Michael Leung, then Secretary for Education and Manpower; and Prof C. K. Leung, then Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

This file contains correspondence, reports, minutes and memorandum relating to academic structure, new course module development, entrance qualifications, staffing requirements, manpower relocation and resource planning. These documents provide insight into the discussions among senior management regarding the academic planning and academic manpower planning for the new Institute.

Records relating to Student Union affairs considered by College management. Includes memoranda, circulars, pamphlets, articles and correspondence related to the Northcote College of Education Students' Union. Some of them were circulated among the principals of the Colleges of Education or sent by other student unions from other colleges (such as Lingnan College and Shue Yan College).

This series consists of minutes/meeting notes, reports, correspondence, course outlines, prospectuses and publicity materials that are concerned with the marketing, admissions, registrations, and academic quality assurance and enhancement of two Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) programmes organised by the School of Foundations in Education - the two-year part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) (PT PGDE(P)) programme and the one-year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) (FT PGDE(P)) programme, between 1997 and 2004.

The PT PGDE(P) programme is the first postgraduate programme of the Hong Kong Institute of Education in which it admitted its first cohort of students in the 1998/1999 academic year, whereas the FT PGDE(P) programme was launched in the 1999/2000 academic year. The coordination of these two postgraduate programmes was taken over by the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Sciences in September 2005, when the Institute introduced a new academic structure.

The series comprises records relating to the programme administration of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary) (Three-year Mixed Mode) (also known as 3-Year MM BEd(P)) offered by the School of Foundations in Education (SFE) between 2000 and 2004.

The 3-Year MM BEd(P) programme was introduced in the 2000/2001 academic year as an add-on degree for holders of the Hong Kong Institute of Education's Certificate in Primary Education, In-service Course of Training for Teachers in Primary Schools and Certificate in Secondary Education.

This programme provided an alternative mode of attendance to the two-year full-time Bachelor of Education Programme implemented in September 1999, as it combined part-time evening and Saturday classes with full-time summer blocks in order to cater for teachers who work full-time. The coordination and delivery of this mixed mode programme was assumed by the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Sciences in the 2005/2006 academic year, when SFE ceased to exist. The programme admitted its last cohort of students in the 2014/2015 academic year.

This file contains documents relating to College Field Outing activities and the role of personal tutors, including:

1) a circular issued to personal tutors regarding the field outing in Nov. 1988;
2) a document outlining the role of personal tutors dated Nov. 1991;
3) a report on the College Field Outing held in Dec. 1991;
4) a schedule of programme activities for the College Field Outing in 1993, and
5) promotional materials related to field outing.

In September 2007, the University Grants Committee (UGC) set up the Review Group on the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) in response to the Government's invitation for expert advice on the Development Blueprint put forward by the Institute. The Review Group visited the HKIEd Tai Po Campus on 7 January 2008.

This file contains records of preparatory and mock meetings conducted by HKIEd in anticipation of the UGC Review Group's visit, as well as Notes of Meetings with the UGC. It also includes meeting notes and correspondences with the UGC following the visit on 7 January 2008.
