The series consists of administrative records generated, received or accumulated by Grantham College of Education and from 1994 when the College served as Grantham Campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. The records are concerned about the administrative structure of the College, the proposed conversion of the College Annex, and the affairs of the College's/Campus' Committees.
Grantham College of EducationThe series consists of minutes and/or discussion papers of the intra-college committees, study units and working groups of Northcote College of Education.
The college committees, study units and working groups were created to advise the Principal on the organisation and content of college courses and activities, on future planning and inter-college cooperation and on domestic matters within Northcote College of Education. Some of these committees were standing while others were set up as the need arises. In some of the committees, students were also represented.
Northcote College of EducationThe series comprises of records relating to the administration of Northcote College of Education ("NCE") between 1982 and 1990. The subjects covered include the Northcote College of Education Students' Union, the implementation of a management information and control system, and the classification and descriptions of all job positions in NCE.
The administration of NCE includes financial and store matters, maintenance of College premises, office management, personnel matters, academic matters, and the monitoring of student affairs. Apart from maintaining regular communication with its own College staff and students, the records show that NCE also made extensive contact and cooperation with the other two Colleges of Education, the Hong Kong Technical Teachers' College, and the Education Department on matters related to College administration.
Northcote College of EducationThis series consists of minutes/meeting notes, reports, correspondence, course outlines, prospectuses and publicity materials that are concerned with the marketing, admissions, registrations, and academic quality assurance and enhancement of two Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) programmes organised by the School of Foundations in Education - the two-year part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) ("PT PGDE(P)") programme and the one-year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) ("FT PGDE(P)") programme, between 1997 and 2004.
The PT PGDE(P) programme is the first postgraduate programme of the Hong Kong Institute of Education in which it admitted its first cohort of students in the 1998/1999 academic year, whereas the FT PGDE(P) programme was launched in the 1999/2000 academic year. The coordination of these two postgraduate programmes was taken over by the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Sciences in September 2005, when the Institute introduced a new academic structure.
School of Foundations in EducationThe records comprising this series include minutes, reports, correspondence and circulars regarding the appointment of senior academic staff of the Hong Kong Institute of Education and the non-approval of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) programme.
Division of Primary EducationThis series consists of records generated, received or accumulated by the research and administrative activities of the Office, which mainly document HKIEd’s strategic development planning, working progress on University title, HKIEd academic development, UGC visits and the organisation of strategic events such as senior management retreat and roundtables of presidents of universities of education.
Strategic Planning OfficeThe series consists of records generated by the Academic Board and its Committees. The reports include meeting notes, discussion papers and report regarding Institutional Review, committee membership, and the development of Bachelor of Education ("BEd") programmes between 1996 and 1997.
Academic BoardThe series consists of both administrative and programme records of the Association of Lecturers at Colleges of Education dated 1966 to 1985, including meeting notices and minutes, constitutions, bank statements, financial reports, correspondence, newsletters, and members' lists; in addition to published materials of the Hong Kong Institute of Education's Development Blueprint dated 2007.
Academic Staff Association of The Education University of Hong KongThe series comprises records relating to the programme administration of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary) (Three-year Mixed Mode) (also known as "3-Year MM BEd(P)") offered by the School of Foundations in Education (“SFE”) between 2000 and 2004.
The 3-Year MM BEd(P) programme was introduced in the 2000/2001 academic year as an add-on degree for holders of the Hong Kong Institute of Education ("HKIEd")'s :
1) Certificate in Primary Education,
2) In-service Course of Training for Teachers in Primary Schools and
3) Certificate in Secondary Education.
This programme provided an alternative mode of attendance to the two-year full-time Bachelor of Education Programme implemented in September 1999, as it combined part-time evening and Saturday classes with full-time summer blocks in order to cater for teachers who work full-time. The coordination and delivery of this mixed mode programme was assumed by the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Sciences ("FLAS") in the 2005/2006 academic year, when SFE ceased to exist. The programme admitted its last cohort of students in the 2014/2015 academic year.
School of Foundations in EducationThis series consists of meeting papers, minutes, circulation, and correspondences of the School of Foundations in Education.
The series relates to the academic works of the School. Subjects and activities covered by the documents include curriculum, module revision, programme examiner, programme re-validation; student exchange programme, appointment of professor, student disciplinary and fund application.
This series also documented the membership and works of several committees within the School, including the Advisory Committee on Primary Teacher Education, Student Disciplinary Committee; and School Projects; Initiative Funding Committee; Academic Validation and Monitoring Committee; and Academic Planning and Development Committee.
