This file contains correspondence, reports, minutes and memorandum relating to academic structure, new course module development, entrance qualifications, staffing requirements, manpower relocation and resource planning. These documents provide insight into the discussions among senior management regarding the academic planning and academic manpower planning for the new Institute.

The following departments/offices/programmes are mentioned in the aforementioned document:
1) Division of Primary Education;
2) Department of Social Studies;
3) Provisional Governing Council;
4) Board of Mathematics, Science & Technology;
5) Bachelor of Education;
6) Environmental Studies.

In 1994, the old Teacher’s Certificate courses were replaced by this new Certificate in Education (CE) courses, consisting of four domains: Professional Studies, Curriculum Studies, Academic Studies and General Education, and a Practicum component, which integrated theory and practice through seminars and a comprehensive range of school experience. The introduction of CE courses represented the most significant development in the founding year.

The Environmental Studies module was part of the “Academic Studies” area.

This file consists of the module outline and examination questions. It also includes information on the allocation of optional modules and the 1994–95 timetable.

The Coordinating Committee for Full-time Courses was one of the College/Campus Committees. This file consists of agenda for 3/94 meeting and includes the minutes of the second meeting of Coordinating Committee.

As the meeting focuses on the area of Teaching Practice, other miscellaneous documents are also included:
1) Notes to staff on supervision of teaching practice 1995;
2) Records related to Teaching Practice, such as Teacher Practice Report Forms, Checklists on Student Performance, Supervision Records, and Supervision Forms.

This section comprises records documenting the history, heritage and collective memory of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. The records provide evidence of the Institute's efforts to preserve and promote its heritage and identity.
