Task Group for Curriculum Planning for the Upgrading of the Colleges of Education

Includes the revised syllabi of the elective subjects available for study at Northcote College of Education for the full-time two-year and three-year courses.

When both courses were introduced in September 1980, each student was required to elect for study three subjects which he/she intended to teach after graduation from the courses. With effect from September 1984, the syllabi were recast into units of study and students would only be required to study two elective subjects. It was hoped that the reduction in elective studies would pave the way for more flexibility and further improvement of the course curriculum.

Includes suggested syllabuses of the common and college units of both English, an elective subject, and English Language Skills, a core curriculum programme, of the full-time courses offered at the Colleges of Education and the Hong Kong Technical Teachers' College (HKTTC). Both the common and college units were developed jointly by the English Departments of the Colleges of Education and HKTTC. The common units were available for study at all four Colleges, whereas the college units were offered specifically to students enrolled at a particular College.
